Former WWE wrestling star spotted at Syracuse football game

A former WWE and WWF wrestling star was spotted at Syracuse football’s game against UConn over the weekend.
Shane McMahon, the son of WWE co-founder Vince McMahon, appeared in multiple photos at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, including smiling for pictures with fans. Syracuse University defeated the University of Connecticut, 31-24, in the ACC matchup.
It’s unclear why Shane McMahon was at the game. He graduated from Greenwich High School in Connecticut and Boston University.
His two oldest sons, who have both appeared at WWE events, are football players: Declan McMahon was a running back at Indiana University for two years, but did not see any playing time and said in April he was entering the transfer portal; Kenyon McMahon, a defensive back, committed earlier this year to play at the University of North Carolina.
Three former Syracuse football players have recently become pro wrestlers: Offensive lineman Omari Palmer made his debut on “Monday Night Raw” in August as Odyssey Jones; defensive lineman Josh Black signed a WWE last summer; and cornerback Trill Williams joined WWE NXT two weeks ago.
Longtime WWE announcer Michael Cole is also an SU grad and other alumni who joined the sport include Quinn Ojinnaka (a.k.a. “Moose”), Dick Beyer (”The Destroyer”) and WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda (”Irwin R. Schyster”), the father of Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas/Uncle Howdy.
Shane McMahon is currently the executive chairman of Ideanomics, a New York-based electric vehicle company, but is best known as a wrestler and personality in the family business. He started as a referee named Shane Stephens before eventually entering the ring under his own name in the WWF’s Attitude Era, joining “The Corporation” and facing off with big names like The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels and The Rock. He last appeared at WrestleMania 39 in 2023.
McMahon, 54, also worked as a wrestling announcer, promoter and behind the scenes as World Wrestling Entertainment’s Executive Vice President of Global Media. His famous family includes his mother Linda McMahon, President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of Education nominee; Shane’s sister Stephanie McMahon, who also wrestled; and Stephanie’s husband, wrestling superstar and current WWE chief content officer Triple H.
