An alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has sent a threat message to Mumbai Traffic Police, demanding Rs 5 crore from actor Salman Khan to settle the long-standing feud with the gangster. The message warned that if Salman failed to pay, his fate would be worse than that of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui, who was recently shot dead.
“If Salman Khan wants to stay alive and wants to end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, then he will have to pay Rs 5 crore. Do not take this lightly, otherwise Salman Khan’s condition will be worse than Baba Siddiqui,” the message read.
Mumbai Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
NCP leader Siddique (66), a close friend of Salman Khan, was shot dead on October 12 outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s upscale Bandra. Police have so far arrested four people.
Shubham Lonkar, suspected to be the key conspirator, wrote on social media that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind Siddique’s murder.
Over the past few months, Salman has faced repeated threats from the Bishnoi gang. Baba Siddiqui’s killing comes months after two shooters fired five rounds outside the actor’s residence in Bandra on April 14.
At the centre of the conflict is the hunting and killing of two blackbucks in 1998 allegedly by Salman. Although the matter is in court, Lawrence Bishnoi, who belongs to a community that holds the blackbuck sacred, has sworn revenge against the actor.
Despite being lodged in prison, Bishnoi has allegedly managed to execute the murders of many high-profile people, including Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala, through his vast network.
Amid the developments, Salman Khan has been granted Y+ security and a heavy police deployment has been made outside Galaxy Apartments. The Mumbai Police have also installed AI-enabled high-resolution CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition technology.
